All you should know about the Tata Harrier SUV

One of the most awaited flagship models by Tata, The Tata Harrier SUV was first showcased in the Auto Expo 2018. This model revealed that it will retain the H5X concept of the original Tata model and will also have 85% similar design elements of the concept model. The leaked image of this new beast revealed that the front section of the car is almost similar to the H5X concept model.

Tata will start to manufacture this car by the end of 2018 and by far, a few test cars have been noticed in various parts of the country which revealed the leaked images of the actual car and its front design. The images prove that the upcoming Tata SUV will have the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) which comprises the thin lighting element. There will be LED strips around the body of the car fitted with a cluster of lamps which will emit a low beam and high beam lamps. The Tata Harrier is also anticipated to get dynamic reflectors which will be fitted on the corners of the car by enhancing visibility in fog and darkness.

This new SUV will also be the first from Tata to get the OMEGA platform underneath. This chassis will be a highly modified version of the big vehicles and will also underpin features from other models. It is expected to become one of the costliest products by Tata when launched in the Indian market. The car will be equipped with a 2.0-litre Multijet engine that will be sourced from the FCA. This engine will also come with a 6-speed manual unit transmission which will be provided by Tata. However, Hyundai will source all the 6-speed automatic transmission units. Thus, this will help Tata to maintain the price range in this highly competitive market.

It will have an all-independent suspension and steel gears with floor pan much like the Discovery Sport and the steel parts of the previous model will be replaced with aluminium parts to cut down the cost. It will also have off-roading capability along with 4×4 drivetrain capacity like the other giant vehicles. It will have a five seating capacity and can provide stiff competition to the other SUVs of the rival brands.

The SUV also has other features like Sunroof and Sports rear AC vents. Tata Harrier will be the first car from the SUV segment of Tata which will get the Sunroof feature. The other specifications include front parking sensors, steering-mounted buttons, touchscreen infotainment system, memory function for the front seats and reversing camera. In order to maintain standard safety measures, Harrier will be equipped with six airbags and will also figure out if there can be an addition of more safety measurements. However, the more additional features, the more expensive the model is going to be!

Even though the production of this car will start by the end of this year, the Harrier will only be available in the market by March or April of 2019. This model will get a 4WD unit with a Terrain Response System with lengthy seats and premium speakers. It is expected that Tata will also launch a 7-seater Harrier in the future.
