We interviewed Candace Devine of David & Devine shortly after their music video, “Til the Sun Comes Up” was released featuring True Blood’s Mariana Klaveno. We covered everything from how they got their start to how Mariana did their video.
After speaking with Candace Devine of David and Devine about the music video they did featuring Mariana Klaveno, we knew that we just had to try talking to Mariana ourselves and we did! We covered everything from music to True Blood and everything in between!
We were fortunate enough to interview Charlaine Harris, the woman who started it all with the Sookie Stackhouse series shortly after her 11th Sookie novel, Dead Reckoning was released. In it we asked her about the 11th novel but we also asked who she thought best portrayed her characters on True Blood!
Aaron Perilo made his True Blood screen debut in season 4, episode 5 “Me and the Devil” playing Blackburn one of the Louisiana Area Sherriffs called in by Bill (Stephen Moyer) after the witches started making moves against vampires. We spoke to Aaron prior to his debut and tried to get him to tell us a little more about his character.
We were first introduced to Lauren Bowles and her Wicca practicing character Holly in season 3. But this year things are going to get very interesting for Holly as she navigates a possible new love interest and tapping into her powers. Lauren also revealed to me that the last two episodes of season 4 will be insane!
Russell Edgington is one of the most popular villains on True Blood because of the fantastic work of actor Denis O’Hare. In a final joint interview, Jaimie and Shanea discussed with Denis his acting methods, working on American Horror Story, and what he is most looking forward to when he returns to True Blood for season 5!
Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler) has had a banner year so far! Not only is she the proud director of official Sundance 2012 selection That’s What She Said, she’s also a fantastic actress. In the first part of this interview we cover her film and her latest turn on CBS’ The Good Wife as Elsbeth Tascioni!
In part 2 of our interview with Carrie Preston, the conversation turns to True Blood. We discuss everything from Arlene’s growth from the past 4 seasons, working with Todd Lowe and of course scoop about season 5!
Kristin Bauer van Straten is arguably one of the most beloved cast members on True Blood and her character Pamela Sywnford de Beaufort is one of the most popular characters on the HBO series. In this Q&A we ask her about everything under the sun from her art, to starring in a music video, and what kind of actor she is!
Abri van Straten is a talented singer and songwriter who has found success both as a solo artist and as lead singer of the South African band the Lemmings. He also managed to steal the heart of his wife Kristin Bauer just by using his voice. We got to know the man behind the music and the beautiful voice a little better in this interview, discussing his music, adjusting to life in California, and the True Blood phenomenon!
In the final part of our interview with the van Stratens, Kristin Bauer (Pamela Sywnford de Beaufort)and Abri van Straten, we thought it would be interesting to learn more about the things that are important to them. Knowing that they’ve worked together on animal rights issues, we couldn’t let this interview pass without asking what issue they’re working on now. But it’s not all serious. We also asked about some of their favorite experiences together. In the process, we learned a little more about their relationship!
We were fortunate enough to be able to speak with Charlaine Harris, author of the Southern Vampire Mysteries about her latest novel Deadlocked! In this interview, we discuss everything from Deadlocked to her last Sookie Stackhouse book, Dead Ever After and whether she’ll ever visit Bon Temps again via her short stories!
Jamie Gray-Hyder has played the werewolf Danielle since last season. She took the time to speak with me the day after the premiere. In the course of the interview, we discussed everything from Jamie’s theatre background to the surprisingly fast audition that earned her the role of Danielle with creator Alan Ball in the room. Then we discussed what it was like to do that steamy scene in the woods with Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux) and Kelly Overton (Rikki) as a first time being naked on TV. We also got into a discussion about working with Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) as a director.
If Steve Newlin had a journal all about our favorite vampires and other residents of Bon Temps, what do you think it would say? Co-written by Michael McMillian (Steve Newlin) and Gianna Sobol, who is best known to Truebies from the Inside True Blood Blog, the True Blood cookbooks, and the True Blood comics, A Field Guide to Vampires is full of research and observations about the characters of Bon Temps complied and written by Steve Newlin himself. But when he was kidnapped and turned into a vampire, the guide was found in his car unfinished by the police and eventually made its way into the hands the vampires with hilarious results! In the interview that follows, Michael McMillian and I not only discussed what fans can expect to see when A Field Guide to Vampires is released this fall, but also discussed the best parts about writing in the True Blood universe, and if he was prepared for the True Blood panel the following day at Comic Con 2013!
